The Tint and Hybrid Dye Kits also include the additional products required for those services.
You won't need to purchase any extra tools to get started.
Do I need to buy anything else?
No. Every Brow It Yourself kit includes the tools, products and disposables needed to complete the services included in your chosen kit.
As your products begin to run low, you can simply purchase refills rather than replacing your entire kit.
How long does it take to do my brows at home?
The time required depends on the services you're performing and your level of experience.
If you're using your kit for the first time, we recommend allowing approximately 30–60 minutes so you can comfortably follow along with the tutorials.
As you become more confident and familiar with the process, most people find their brow maintenance becomes much quicker.

Your tutorials become available after purchasing a Brow It Yourself kit or an individual tutorial (including our free tutorial). We ask you to "purchase" free tutorials so we can securely link them to your account.
To access your tutorials, hover over the Tutorials menu on our website and select View My Tutorials, or simply scan the QR code included with your order.
Enter the email address you used when placing your order, and we'll send you a secure login code, there's no password to remember. Once logged in, you'll be able to view all of your available tutorials.

Whether you're completely new to eyebrow waxing or simply maintaining your brows between salon appointments, our tutorials are designed to help you achieve salon-quality results from home.
Is it safe to wax your own eyebrows?
Yes, when performed correctly and by following the manufacturer's instructions and tutorials provided, eyebrow waxing at home can be safe and effective.
Before waxing, always complete a patch test at least 24 hours beforehand and read all product warnings and contraindications. Certain medications, skincare products (such as retinol or prescription acne treatments) and skin conditions may make waxing unsuitable.
If you're unsure whether eyebrow waxing is suitable for you, seek advice from your healthcare professional before use.
How long should my eyebrow hair be before waxing?
For the best results, your eyebrow hair should be approximately 2–4mm long. For most people, this is generally 3-4 weeks worth of untouched growth.
Hair that is too short may not grip to the wax effectively, while very long hairs may benefit from a light trim before waxing.
How often should I wax my eyebrows?
Most people wax their eyebrows every 3–6 weeks, depending on their natural hair growth.
Rather than following a strict schedule, the perks of having your own products at home, means you can simply wax your own brows whenever you feel it is necessary for you.
We do not recommend waxing any sooner than 2 weeks from your last wax.
Should I wax or tint/dye my eyebrows first?
For beginners, we recommend waxing your eyebrows first, then applying your tint or hybrid dye.
Once you've mapped your brows, waxing around your mapped shape is the easiest and most beginner-friendly approach. After waxing, you can simply apply your tint or hybrid dye within your brow mapping shape.
If you tint first, you'll usually remove your brow mapping when you wipe the tint away, meaning you'll need to map your brows again before waxing.
As you become more confident and comfortable with the process, you may choose to apply your tint or hybrid dye within your mapped shape first, then wax around the mapping while the colour is processing. This can save time, but we recommend mastering the waxing-first method before trying this technique.
What temperature should my eyebrow wax be?
Wax is not only determined by temperature, instead, we look for consistency. Your wax should have a smooth, thick honey-like consistency. It should spread easily without being runny, stringy or overly thick. (This is demonstrated visually inside ALL of your tutorials, including the FREE wax heater guide tutorial).
Always test the wax on the inside of your wrist before applying it to your face. Wax that is too hot can feel uncomfortable on the skin, while wax that is too cool may not grip the hair properly and is hard to work with.
If you've started waxing and you're worried it is too hot or too cool, please refer back to the demonstration in the tutorial. Do not proceed until the wax temperature feels right for your skin on the back of your hand.
Why isn't my wax gripping the hairs?
If your wax isn't gripping the hairs, it is usually caused by one (or multiple) of the following:
- The wax is too hot or too cool.
- The hair is too short.
- The area has not been cleansed properly with our Skin Prep Spray.
- The skin still has makeup, oil or skincare products on it.
- The wax wasn't removed efficiently.
Our tutorials demonstrate the ideal wax consistency and correct application technique to help you achieve the best results.
Why is my wax stringy?
If your wax is too 'stringy', this can be normal. To ensure the strings aren't following the wax out of the wax pot, please refer to the demonstration in the tutorial.
We recommend twirling your wax applicator with the wax on it above the wax pot BEFORE moving it away to start waxing; this ensures the string snaps off or only lands into your pot and doesn't make a mess.
Can I wax over the same area twice?
We don't recommend waxing the exact same area more than once during the same session.
Repeated waxing can increase the risk of irritation and skin lifting. If a few hairs remain after waxing, it's usually safer to remove them with tweezers.
What should I do before waxing my eyebrows?
Before waxing, we recommend:
- Completing a patch test at least 24 hours beforehand.
- Removing all makeup and skincare from the brow area.
- Cleansing and drying the skin thoroughly (with Skin Prep Spray).
- Reading all warnings and contraindications.
- Watching the tutorial before beginning.
Preparing your skin correctly helps achieve better results while reducing the chance of irritation.
What should I avoid after waxing?
Proper aftercare helps minimise irritation and allows your skin to recover after waxing. We recommend the following:
- Avoid touching the area for at least 12–24 hours to reduce the risk of irritation and bacteria entering the freshly waxed skin.
- Avoid applying makeup directly over the waxed area for at least 12–24 hours, as your skin will be more sensitive immediately after waxing.
- Cool the area if needed by applying a cold compress or an ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth to help reduce redness and discomfort.
- Apply a soothing product, such as aloe vera or witch hazel, if suitable for your skin. Always patch test first and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
- Avoid hot showers, saunas and excessive exercise for 24 hours, as heat and sweat can increase irritation.
- Avoid exfoliating products, including facial scrubs, retinoids and exfoliating acids (AHAs and BHAs), for at least 48 hours.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours, as freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and may be more prone to pigmentation. If you need to be outdoors, apply a gentle sunscreen once your skin has settled
Why is my skin red after waxing?
A small amount of redness after eyebrow waxing is completely normal and usually settles within a few hours.
This temporary redness occurs because the hair has been removed from the follicle. Applying a soothing aftercare product and avoiding heat or active skincare ingredients can help calm the skin.
If redness is severe, becomes painful or persists longer than expected, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
Can I wear makeup after waxing?
It's best to avoid applying makeup directly over freshly waxed skin for at least 24 hours.
Waxing temporarily opens the hair follicles, making the skin more susceptible to irritation and bacteria. Giving your skin time to recover helps reduce the chance of breakouts and sensitivity.
Can I use Brow It Yourself wax on other parts of my body?
Yes. Brow It Yourself wax can be used on the face and body, provided you use the correct waxing technique for the area you're treating.
Hair grows in different directions depending on the area of the body, so application and removal techniques may differ. Our tutorials are designed specifically for eyebrow waxing.
Can I reheat my wax?
Yes. Brow It Yourself wax can be reheated multiple times until it has been used.
If the wax thickens as it cools and returns to its state before it was melted, simply reheat it until it returns to a smooth, honey-like consistency before continuing.
How many eyebrow waxes does one bag of wax provide?
The exact number will depend on how much wax you use.
As a guide:
- 25g Wax Refill – approximately 10 eyebrow waxes
- 100g Wax Refill – approximately 40 eyebrow waxes
How do I remove leftover wax from my skin?
Any wax that you cannot pull off with your applicator or fingers, simply use your tweezers.
Can I wax my eyebrows if I use retinol or acne medication?
Many retinol products, prescription acne medications and exfoliating skincare ingredients can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of skin lifting during waxing.
Always read our warnings and contraindications before waxing, as we do not recommend waxing whilst on these medications or skincare. If you're unsure whether waxing is suitable while using a particular skincare product or medication, consult your healthcare professional before proceeding.
Can I re-use the same waxing applicator?
No. We recommend using a new waxing applicator each time you dip into the wax.
"Dipping" a used applicator back into the wax (known as double dipping) can introduce bacteria into the wax and increase the risk of contamination. Using a fresh applicator for each application is the most hygienic and safest approach.
Our kits include plenty of applicators, and refills are available if you need more.
Why did I get pimples after waxing?
Small bumps after waxing are common and, in many cases, are not actually pimples. They are often folliculitis, which occurs when the hair follicles become temporarily inflamed after the hair has been removed.
To help reduce the chance of folliculitis or post-wax breakouts:
- Avoid touching the waxed area with unwashed hands.
- Avoid applying makeup for at least 12–24 hours.
- Keep the area clean and follow the recommended aftercare instructions.
- Once your skin has settled, a product containing salicylic acid may help reduce bacteria, keep the follicles clear and minimise the appearance of post-wax bumps. Always follow the product's directions and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
In most cases, these bumps settle within a few days. If they become increasingly painful, persist, or show signs of infection, seek advice from your healthcare professional.
Can I wax my eyebrows during my period?
Yes, but your skin may be more sensitive due to hormonal changes, so waxing can feel more uncomfortable than usual. If possible, you may prefer to wax a few days before or after your period when your skin is less sensitive.
